Reject is as easy as accept.

Regulators across the EU are warning sites with misleading banners. Gatelamp builds in the Dutch Data Protection Authority’s nine rules, so you can’t publish a banner that breaks them.

In practice

You try to make “Reject all” a grey text link. The editor won’t publish it and tells you which rule it breaks.

Banner editor design for fijnhier.nl: the live preview next to the settings, and the rule check. “Reject all” was turned into a text link, so one rule fails and publishing is blocked until it’s fixed.

What you get

Accept and reject on one layer

Two buttons with the same size, weight and contrast. Rejecting never takes an extra click.

Nothing ticked in advance

Every category starts off, on every layer. Choosing is something the visitor does, not something we assume.

How many third parties

The first layer says what the cookies are for and how many other companies get data. Gatelamp counts them from your inventory.

Clear words

“Accept all” and “Reject all”, not “OK, got it”. The editor flags vague buttons before you publish.

Change your mind any time

A fixed “Cookie settings” button opens the choice again. Withdrawing is as easy as agreeing.

Asked again when it matters

Choices last six months by default, a refusal too. Add a new tool and visitors are asked again.
