How it works

From first scan to lamp off.

Four steps, the same for every site. Most of the work is done once; after that, Gatelamp keeps watching.

Step 1

Add your sites

Add one script line to your layout, or the Astro component. It runs from your own domain, so your security headers can stay as strict as they are.

Every site appears in the dashboard with its languages and a status lamp. Common tools are already described in the shared library.

Install design for an Astro site: one component in the layout, the script served from your own domain, and a cookie page rendered at build time. Names can still change.
Step 2

Scan them

A real browser visits each site three times: before anyone chooses, after “Reject all” and after “Accept all”.

It writes down every cookie, every bit of local storage and every request to another company, and which script caused it.

Scan design for fijnhier.nl, one of our own sites: nothing is stored before a choice or after a refusal, and two Google Analytics cookies after “Accept all”. Glim suggests how the site could drop its banner.
Step 3

Fix it or ask

For many sites the answer is: no banner needed. Where something needs consent, Gatelamp shows how to remove it, like self-hosting fonts or loading videos on click.

Where you want to keep it, switch on an honest banner in the site’s own style. Reject is as easy as accept, and nothing loads before a choice.

Banner editor design for fijnhier.nl: the live preview next to the settings, and the rule check. “Reject all” was turned into a text link, so one rule fails and publishing is blocked until it’s fixed.
Step 4

Keep watching

Every week the scanner checks every site again, and after each deploy if you like. Something new or something too early means an email the same day.

The cookie page updates itself, and every choice is kept as proof, without IP addresses.

Alert email design: the weekly scan of themes.dev found Google Fonts and a YouTube embed loading before anyone chose. The email names the page and the cause, and links straight to the fix.
