Hi, I’m Frank. I build Gatelamp.

I’ve designed and built software since 2007, mostly for other companies: web apps, online stores and the tools behind them. Gatelamp started as the cookie tool for my own sites. When you email, I’m the one who answers.

Why Gatelamp

I run a lot of sites. When I checked all 39 of them, 4 clearly needed a cookie banner, because they use Google Analytics, and 8 didn’t. The other 27 need none for what their pages load, but their affiliate links can need consent in some countries.

The cookie tools I looked at charge per site or per pageview, so every banner adds to the bill. I couldn’t find one that told me which sites could do without a banner, or let me describe a tool once for all of them.

So I’m building a lamp that only goes on where it’s needed, and keeps an eye on the rest.

Gatelamp is for my own sites first, with each banner in the site’s own style. When it opens, you get the same thing. See how it works or the advice for going without a banner.

How I build it

  • Independent

    No investors and low fixed costs. Gatelamp doesn’t have to grow at all costs, so it can be priced per workspace instead of per pageview.

  • The rules built in

    Reject as easy as accept, nothing ticked in advance, clear button text. The editor won’t publish a banner that breaks them.

  • Less data, kept in the EU

    Consent records are stored in the EU, IP addresses are never written down, and Gatelamp tracks nobody itself.

  • In the open

    Anything not built yet says “Planned” on this site, without a date until there is one. And Gatelamp isn’t legal advice.
