Answer once, on every domain.
Planned: a visitor who answers on example.com shouldn’t be asked again on shop.example.com, or on the German site of the same shop. Gatelamp will carry the choice across, without third-party cookies.
What you get
Subdomains share one choice
example.com, shop.example.com and blog.example.com share a choice, kept in one cookie on the main domain.
Sister domains, by link
Follow a link from example.nl to example.de and the choice comes along: only the answer per category, no ID.
Said up front
The banner names the domains a choice covers, so nobody agrees to more than they can see.
A record on each domain
Each domain keeps its own record of the choice, with a note on where it came from. The “Cookie settings” button works on every one.
A shop runs example.nl, example.de and shop.example.com. A visitor accepts statistics on example.nl, follows a link to the German site, and isn’t asked again.
Across domains: common questions
- Can one cookie choice cover several domains?
- That’s planned, without a date yet. Subdomains like shop.example.com will share one choice with example.com, kept in one cookie on the main domain. Between separate domains, the choice will come along when a visitor follows a link. At launch, each site asks on its own.
- Does it use third-party cookies?
- No. Each domain keeps the choice in its own cookie. Between separate domains only the answer per category travels along, without an ID.
- Do visitors know which domains a choice covers?
- Yes. The banner names the domains a choice covers, and each domain keeps its own record of the choice with a note on where it came from.
